On Call: Stories and Conversations on Calling

Bishop Karen Oliveto was elected bishop on July 15, 2016, and at the time of her election she was the senior pastor of Glide Memorial Church in San Fransisco. She is married to Robin Ridenour, who is a deaconess in the United Methodist Church’s California-Nevada Conference. Bishop Oliveto is also the author of three books: Our Strangely Warmed Hearts: Coming Out into God’s Call, Talking about Homosexuality: a Congregational Resource, and Together at the Table. She is the first openly lesbian to be elected bishop in the UMC.
